The only way I have ever known to identify celuloid is by an applied shank. I would love to hear about it if someone knows a way to identify celuloid when the button doesn't have a shank.
These buttons are BEAUTIFUL!

Applied shank? Im new to collecting but have some very unusual buttons with shanks that look added on. I also found buttons from very old army uniforms. 1914 apperantly. Where can i find out more about very old buttons. my colledection is quite unusual and i was tod that some were very rare..
