Button Floozies

Hi everyone! I'm new to Button Floozies, though not new to collecting and enjoying vintage buttons. Recently I was contacted by a lady in her 80s whose father owned a drapery store in Sydney, Australia in the 1940s. When it closed down she 'inherited' the buttons. Now that she's getting on in years she wanted to pass them on to someone who would value them as much as she did. It looks like her father catalogued them by attaching them to the back of old advertising signs. There's lots of colourful early plastics, Czech glass and MOP. There were also lots of loose buttons in old Sylko thread boxes, and some plastic fisheye buttons on rolls of double-sided tape, no doubt for ease of selling. I'm enjoying reading all the button stories on this Blog. Maybe one day I'll get used to posting to Blogger (I find juggling the pics around a little difficult). Hi everyone, I haven't posted anything for awhile. I have been rearranging and putting my buttons in jars. I had some old Mason Jars I found out in the barn. The old blue ones with the screw on lids. Brought them in the house and cleaned them up. Sorted my buttons by colors and put them in the Mason Jars.

This is only a handful of the MoP buttons in my collection. I find it hard to walk past any jars with even a few in of these in them. The first photo is with the flash, the second photo without the flash!

Sat down on Saturday evening and made this Mother of Pearl necklace from a kit by The Button Company. The instructions stressed that it looked more complicated than it is and they were right. The instructions were very clear and the diagrams helped too. The clasp is very attractive.. as is the back of all of the buttons. Almost two buttons for the price of one. Lots of fun to make.

i made a new felt brooch this time incorporating one of incywincy's fabric covered buttons i'm really pleased with how it turned out. in my shops now!

These are some buttons from my stash that actually have flowers ON them. I haven't included those that are shaped like flowers, as there's too many!! The one on the lower left hand side is indented. All of them came from second-hand stores in Australia. I love these buttons and was so excited when I found them!! I bought some more buttons today, so will be back with another update soon!!

Hi Fellow Button Floozies! When I started button floozies I NEVER imaged that it would be so popular!! We are at 90+ members with more in the 'pipeline' who have sent me emails but I haven't had the time to answer them yet. (today or tomorrow, promise!) This is my first proper post on Button Floozies so here goes. I have recently taken part in a swap and this lovely bracelet was made for me as part of that swap by Maxine at Tiny White Daisies . Just my colours too. I could see myself even adding to this bracelet if I found one for two special buttons to compliment Maxine's work. You can see the other items on my blog . There are some other lovely button too but I need to take close up pictures of those first.

Hello, I am Deborah over at Vintage Soul . I am really new to blogging but I have been visiting this blog and many others for several months before deciding to take the plunge. Buttons are among my favorite things and I love it that all you guys love them as much as I do. It's so much fun to come here and visit all your blogs and see how you use buttons in your work. I love the creativity. I have lots of buttons - have been collecting long before I knew there were others as crazy as I am. I call it crazy because most of us don't actually collect collectible buttons but even the humble run of the mill generic ones. I store my buttons all over and as creatively as possible but here are my current favorite storage options: Vintage apothecary jars bought at a thrift shop several weeks apart. I love going to estate sales and searching for vintage buttons and notions. And on days when I find lots of wonderful items I am so excited to share them. I hope you find my post interesting and something positive to share. I wanted to show you a few buttons I picked up at an Estate sale over the weekend. I was so excited to find these stashed inside a vintage sewing box. There was a little jar of small white and clear buttons....I think they are so romantic looking. Hello, my name is Wanda ( aka needlewings) and I live in S.E. Ohio. I am also new to the Button Floozies. I shall share some of the buttons that I have used on a mixed media wall quilt. The base being of fabric and Peltex, while I also have used torn dyed paper toweling, angelina and added covered and vintage buttons, some iridescent tissue papers along with clay, paints and machine quilting. The medium size covered buttons were made by my mother-in- law years ago. Quite possibly the 50's or 60's. She has since passed away in the early 80's and I have inherited her collection of buttons. I have had so much fun sorting them into color families. When I came across these burgundy velvet covered buttons, I had wanted to use them somewhere, so the torn tissues and textures just sort of fell into place looking like button flowers. I adhered some fabric centers and paints and found other gold buttons that mimicked the polka dotted centers. This piece has been in local ar...

...the newest member of the team, Amanda aka mandapanda , from Queensland, Australia. I love all buttons, new and vintage, and simply cannot resist a box/jar/parcel of them. I have no idea what I'm going to do with all these little treasures!
