A Valentine button giveaway

Thank you to wonderful Gerry, who is a Floozie and blogs over at Olderrose, for providing this beautiful hand painted button as a gift for one of you!
It's a beautiful original painting done by Gerry.
She painted it on a 1-3/8" plastic button
(although it looks like pearl, doesn't it?)
Simply wonderful, and I can't thank Gerry enough for giving it to one of you!
Be sure to visit Gerry's blog and read how she paints them on her tutorial.
Or, visit to see some of her spectacular crazy quilted art.
If you can't wait to win this button, you can always buy one or 12 in her Etsy shop!

Button-y valentine cards

I do enjoy quiet Sundays spent crafting with the frenzy of televised football games for background "music".

I've been sewing buttons (and trim) onto scanned antique images to create Valentine cards for crafty ladies.
They're easy to disassemble so the buttons can be used for creating!
New in my Etsy shop today!
What have you been creating with buttons?

Happy Button Dancing Girl

I am a Happy Button Dancing Girl!

Have you ever come across a special button that makes you want to dance with happiness?  I did last weekend, although I refrained from dancing in the aisle, mainly because the aisle wasn't very big.

button treasure from thrift store

I had to drop off bags of donations at VV yesterday and so of course I had to do a quick run-through of the store... I found this all silk wedding suit which is  gorgeous silk...  I assume it was a wedding suit as it has a very long train...  It is beautifully tailored and softly shirred around the waist and hips...  I can hardly wait to start chopping it to pieces for crazy quilting....The silk is very high quality and can be dyed any color.

But what was on the back was a bonus..
Down the entire length of back and train are all these tiny silk-covered buttons....91 of them. There is a small bit of crystal beading in the  front but  the straps are elaborately and elegantly beaded ...

Button Cards

My Mom bought me these buttons for Christmas.
I'm not sure how old they are, but I love the color and art deco style.

I have to admit, I sometimes love the button cards as much as the buttons themselves~ sometimes even more, and have been known to buy them just for the card on occasion(!)
Even though this isn't the case here, I still love the old timey logo and fonts, and the little saying on the side.Cute!
I have a hard time taking the buttons off of some of these to use.
How about you?
