Button Floozies

I have a button jar on my desk that I fill up with all buttons that are new to me. I realized after having all of my buttons neat and tidy (look here , here , here , and here ), it would be so easy to maintain organization by putting all of the buttons that come into my house right where they go with the rest of their happy same-colored buttons. Too easy. I love sorting. It's part of the thrill for me. So, I decided that I would put all new buttons in this jar, and sort the buttons when it became full. Last week for International Button Week, I realized it was perfect timing to sort the goods, and take pictures. :) I got this pretty postcard as a gift from Angela Harris when I ordered a few things from her on Etsy, and I love it lining my button jar. I dumped out the pretty buttons, and did what I love: sort. Yeah. So purdy.

I don't know how I missed Button Week! I kept thinking I was going to do a post on my blog for button week and link to it from here, but kept working on other posts and never got to it. But any day is a good day for a button floozie to look at buttons, right? I really enjoyed Button Week! Looking at everyone's lovely collections and beautiful photos. I have to say that I think it also brought me some luck as I had my first sale on Folksy! I am sending my fabric buttons on their way this morning across the country to their new home. I hope they go on to become a finishing touch on someone's project or, indeed, even just to be treasured in a collection! I'm not sure if, the next time that I sell some, I will get quite so excited...I hope so because it's so much fun! Bye bye little buttons x

My mom got the recipe for these Swedish Wafer Christmas Cookies about 50 years ago from a neighbor. She also got a scrumptious recipe for Potato Soup from her, but that's another post for another blog. Potato Floozies, maybe? I couldn't resist making them early this year to share with you here in honor of International Button Week. Enjoy! Swedish Wafer Christmas Cookies (from Marilyn Stender to Rosalind Hose to Debbie Doughty to you!) Cookie: 1 cup butter, softened 1/3 cup whipping cream 2 cups sifted flour (I'm not sure if sifting is necessary with our "modern" flour, but I do it because I love using my sifter, lol) Plate of granulated sugar, set aside Combine butter and whipping cream in mixing bowl. Mix with an electric mixer, slowly adding flour until well blended. Cover and Chill until firm Roll dough out 1/3 at a time to 1/8" thickness Cut into 1 and 1/2" circles.
