A gift of buttons

Image
Did you get anything especially, wonderfully, button-y during your holiday celebrations this year?  If so -- send me a photo and I'll post it on this blog! Look at this pretty work of art I received! It's a beautiful clutch purse decorated (by hand!) with every color and variety of sewing buttons! Plus, a bit of lace and some beads for good measure. You wouldn't believe how wonderful it feels in your hands! Here's the back.  Can you believe it?  I received it during the gift exchange at my button club's Christmas luncheon!  (Please feel free to "like" our Facebook page and keep up with all the button fun!) Idell made it; she and I have something beyond buttons in common: we both moved to Colorado from the same town in California.  But, I never met her when I lived there. I know if I had -- we would have been friends! I hope some buttons found their way into your Christmas celebrations!

More from the ornament swap!

Image
Here are the ornaments that I received in the swap; it should have been four, but one of the participants never sent hers to any of us, unfortunately. The stocking on the left was made by Wendy. The stars in the middle, by Laura. The cute Santa box is by Pam . I hope everyone is preparing for a great Christmas holiday!

Four more sleeps!

Image
Are you ready for Christmas?  Only four more sleeps! Look at these beautiful button tags!  They were a gift from Kathy , who shares my love of buttons and shows some wonderful examples on her blog -- you must visit!  They hang from sheer ribbon and I think they make beautiful Christmas ornaments.  I love how she mixed buttons with wonderful textures in colors to complement the beautiful playing cards. All my gifts are wrapped and I have found time to relax with family and do some creating, like this button bracelet I assembled.  I have always wanted to make one like this!  I love the feeling of accomplishing a long-time goal, don't you? This time, I used all shell buttons, and added some crystal and silver beads.  I made a pair of matching earrings, too.  I hope you are finding time to play in your buttons as you craft, create gifts, and decorate for the holidays!

Christmas Ornament Swap Linky Party!

Okay, here's your chance to see all the ornaments that were exchanged in the Christmas Ornament Swap we just finished.  With 32 people participating -- there is a lot to see!  Please click on each thumbnail to be taken to participant's blogs or the Button Floozies Swap Flickr page and see all the Christmas fun!

How to make an easy Raggedy Ann Christmas Ornament

Image
I love painting faces on MOP buttons...  Here is Raggedy Ann with her MOP face and a button heart on my crazy quilt Christmas block.  You can use her by herself as an easy-to-make ornament...  I have a tutorial on my blog   These are also cute on tags for packages and on name tags for Christmas events... In that same series here is a "sugar plump fairy" with a painted face on an MOP button.

Christmas with buttons!

I thought I'd share a few Christmas ornaments and decorations that I found which use buttons. I didn't share photos here since they're other people's property. Most of the links either have instructions or patterns or have a link to them. Enjoy the cuteness! Ornaments : Mitten ornament . Another mitten ornament . Christmas tree ornaments in denim . Gingerbread man and gal . Trees : Button tree . Another button tree with lots of buttons! And another button tree !
