Button Floozies

Beautiful blues and various, vibrant greens mixed together with beads into a beautiful, woven necklace!  I love that there are a variety of ages and types of buttons...  Notice how the maker twisted the lengths for interest -- below, I have pulled them apart to demonstrate.  What a fun thrift store find!  I washed it and will enjoy wearing it! Next week, March 19-25, has been deemed National Button Week .  I'll be posting some of my favorite buttons from my collection each day, and invite you to do the same! Our town just had its annual St. Patrick's Day parade yesterday, so, in honor of that, some of my fun plastic buttons that put me in the "wearing of the green" mood! Have a wonderful Sunday!

 My Mom bought me these buttons for Christmas. I'm not sure how old they are, but I love the color and art deco style. I have to admit, I sometimes love the button cards as much as the buttons themselves~ sometimes even more, and have been known to buy them just for the card on occasion(!) Even though this isn't the case here, I still love the old timey logo and fonts, and the little saying on the side.Cute! I have a hard time taking the buttons off of some of these to use. How about you?

Last weekend I was at a craft fair and saw these cool crocheted bracelets an artist had made.  They were very simple, just a crocheted chain with a clasp.  The first thing I thought was, I could sew buttons onto that! And so, I did!  I just went through my stash of vintage buttons to use for crafts and chose different red, green and white buttons (thinking "Christmas.") I alternated red and green on the "top" of the bracelet... and white along each "side" of the bracelet.  I simply sewed the buttons onto the crocheted yarn.  (You can see the crocheted part in the top middle-to-right of the bracelet in the photo above.) I'm very happy with the way it turned out!  It's chunky, but surprisingly comfortable!  I think it really "pops" and I'm going to have a ball wearing it for casual Christmas-time fun!

i have seen buttons like this in a "marcasite" colourway but not in a goldtone before , they are glass and they have a 4-way brass shank *** these are unusual too they are glass with a faux printed silk effect to the centres , the rim and colour remind me of victorian jet mourning buttons but the floral pattern makes me think 1950's these also have the 4-way brass shanks Please can you help identifying the age of these buttons?
