Button Floozies

 A beautiful vintage button makes everything more special!  Here's a gorgeous, 3 colored antique celluloid button that artist KC Willis used to accent a work of mixed media art.  At the very top of her fabric collage, it has pride of place as a lovely embellishment! (Available here.)

I have been enjoying crafting pumpkins from vintage fabrics; when I'm finished piecing and stuffing them, then the fun starts, especially when I dig into my vintage buttons to embellish them!  Here are a few I just made. I love that chunky, brass look button with an incised flower petal pattern; it's hollow inside! This rectangular, orange toned celluloid button was hard to part with, but I think it makes a fabulous pumpkin "stem"! This little jeweled button was just the perfect size to attach an antique, crocheted tassel to the top of this pumpkin decorated with lace.

Here it is the end of June already! Summer just started.  I was cleaning my art studio. When I came across a big tin of buttons.  I took the lid off the tin and spent a half hour looking  at what was inside. Someday I want to have one of these to use for button storage: Antique dental cabinet Until the time that I (a) find one and (b) can afford it, I will have to make do with this: It's a jewelry cabinet I bought at an antique store last month; it's vintage, certainly not antique.  I can't wait to change out the hardware, which I think is horribly ugly! I have just finished filling it with some of my favorite buttons -- the ones I'd like to keep, vs. the supply I keep in jars to use in my crafts.  Here's part of it: In the top section, I keep the faux jewel and paste plastic buttons in an old watch box; in the compartment on the right, my most bling-y buttons, and then some that aren't so blingy but are still my favorites. This divided box holds my glass buttons; besides these, I have a couple of large "trays" full of different colored and black glass buttons that I mounted for display.
