Button Floozies

Here's a simple little project that takes just a few minutes, using vintage plastic buttons: The button card "base" was from a scrapbook page of reproductions of old ones, but you can make your own or download some free ones, like this one: https://www.shabbyartboutique.com/2014/06/shabby-button-cards.html#comment-16191 I also made this sprig of holly last night -- same idea, but using green felt I freehand cut, and three smaller red buttons: These make great gift tags or stocking stuffers for all your button-loving, crafty friends!  I can't wait to see your button crafts for the holiday season!

I made a visit to the local Salvation Army Thrift Store to look for things for my ART CLASSES. I came across a large bag of BUTTONS ON CARDS! What a find! This is only half of this bag of buttons. Most are plastic, and there are some that have metal accents. I noticed that I had a collection from the following button companies: Costumakers-- made in the U.S.A LaMode Buttons-- made in Italy, Japan, and Holland Streamline-- made in Holland, italy, and Thailand LaPetite-- made in Germany Lansing Co.-- made in Japan Premiere Collection-- made in Italy This is a nice addition to my ever growing BUTTON COLLECTION! I have been creating collage and mixed media cards for sale in a few art venues. They have been well received.  I enjoy making these small works of art.  This is one that I sold recently.  It is created with acrylic paint, collage papers, hand-painted papers,  and my beloved...   reposted from  BethLeintz.typepad.com An antique dealer once told me that since most dealers don't go to school to learn the "trade", we get our education from our mistakes.  Usually those are mistakes in what we buy.  Even though I've been doing this for 15 years, I still make mistakes.  I guess that means I'm still learning. At an estate sale last weekend, I saw buttons, lots of buttons, buttons on cards.  Buttons in a bag or a jar will make my heart beat a little faster.  Buttons that have been put on cards by other collectors make my heart skip a beat. They're special, because someone went to the trouble to collect them, lay them out, attach them to cards. When I saw this button card at an estate sale, I was overcome with button lust and I bought the card without really considering my purchase. My first mistake was assuming these were glass buttons.  They LOOK like glass, but I think they're all plastic....

Hi :) I'm a new Button Floozie, and happy to be among other floozies! I do have quite the button collection, and HAD a super (and I mean SUPER) find on some vintage buttons a few years ago. I answered a Free Cycle ad for sewing patterns, fabrics and notions. Turns out we had to drive quite a ways to get there (even had to stop and get gas!) but it was totally worth it. As soon as we picked up the boxes and pulled out of the driveway, I twisted myself around in odd places to go through those boxes, way before we got home! I felt like a pretzel but the curiosity was killing me! Loved everything I found, and then I found a metal box with a lift off lid, the box itself was old, kind of rusty, but I could see a flower on top of the box. Dying to know what was inside, I pulled off the lid and gasped!!! Completely full to overflowing were vintage buttons. Many pearl buttons, many on cards that said 'Made in Occupied Japan'! Very pretty cards with no buttons on them, but I love...

My friend who's participating in the Christmas Ornament Swap gave me the most wonderful gift for being the swap hostess: I am over the moon!  Look at all these pretty pearl buttons -- on cards! All vintage Bonus: a buckle! Mother of pearl (or, shell) + Vintage = Button heaven!

Have you seen MoonMum's clever use of buttons? I am a big fan and have been buying cards and wall art from MoonMum for a while now. I love these new little chick buttons and they inspired me to share. It's Mother's Day in Australia in a couple of weeks. Perfect. Lou.

Hello Button Floozies! I don't know whether you have seen it on my blog or not, but I thought I might share it with you :) Some time ago I fell in love with the fabric covered brads. But I live in Poland and it is still quite difficult to buy some things here, and as I'm impatient and can't wait long I usually have to be creative :) I had some fabric covered buttons, like here: After adding some Prima flowers they looked like this: And I had to try one of them on the card: But I just kept thinking.... and I made some more fabric covered buttons myself! Here they are: I added some fabric or paper flowers, cheesecake cloth, and used stamps! Here are the effects: Want to find out how I did them?
