You can be in First Place with these cute little plastic buttons LOL                                                                They are cute and very light weight  I seen them at one of my favorite indoor flea markets once and had to rescue them They laid with my other plastic novelty buttons and I don't think I will ever use them so added them to my etsy shop

Button Christmas Cards

Image
While enjoying some inspiration on Pinterest the other day, I found so many handmade Christmas cards using buttons that I had to make a board for them:   Button Christmas Cards ! Go see, and be inspired!  I also have a "regular" board for buttons I love called, not suprisingly, Button Love .  Do you save buttons on Pinterest ?  Do tell!

Antique button card

Image
This is a salesman sample button card I found yesterday at a vintage market.  I think the gal at the cash register thought I was a little nuts.  And, maybe I am. The full card showing all sizes, with its worn, tattered edges makes me swoon. How much would you love to own the whole display? Happy Sunday, Floozies!

London and buttons

Image
I'm off to London on Thursday... DH has his list of sites which includes lots of museums, galleries and churches.  My list includes many antique shops, markets, Victoria and Albert Museum, and looking for buttons as well.  Found two shops on the internet... The Button Lady in Hampstead and the Button Queen on Portabello Rd.  Any others? DH and I will meet up in the afternoon for a meal at one of the old pubs on our list...

Ubiquitous!!!

Does it ever seem as if you find buttons in the most unlikely of places? And when you're not looking for them at all? While planning for a Christmas party, I was looking for disposable paper coasters. See what I found on Partycity dot com:

Need Advice

Image
I have this card of antique La Mode metal buttons with gorgeous purple glass middles. Anyway I am thinking of removing them from their original cards and putting in a glass covered candy jar with other beautiful buttons. Now should I leave them on their card? or do you button collectors think they need to stay on their original cardboard card that has bent edges. Need your advice, thanks from Janice

Fabric Buttons

Image
I have these fabric buttons I call them in my big jars of mother of pearls buttons not knowing what else to do with them, They are handmade I do believe and beautiful. I bet they were the closure for a beautiful evening jacket worn over a beautiful tulle and satin evening gown back in the glamorous days of the 1930-1950's? Just day dreaming . Do you know anything about buttons like these? please tell                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                Here is back of fabric buttons                                                                    Is this one crochet?

American Songbirds by Singer Sewing Machine

Image
I just finished a few more birds in the series of American song birds put out on advertising cards by Singer Sewing Machines around the turn of the century. There were 14 birds in the  series and I have gradually worked through them. I have the entire collection of cards of the Singer series and plan to use them in a needlework project. All  buttons are hand painted by me and there are no transfers. They are meant for decorative or collective purposes and are not washable.. Each finished button received several coats of an acyrilic sealer to protect them.  You can see more of my buttons on my Etsy site... https://www.etsy.com/shop/olderrose

Military Buttons

I was digging through a glass covered dish full of buttons I bought at an estate sale couple years ago and still spotting buttons I didn't know was in this dish. I had never noticed the button with the eagle on it                                                             I bought the box of buttons for all the buttons with stones on them and a few rhinestone buttons. Love the large metal button with the black stone. It's about size of a silver  half dollar                                                                  There is some fabulous silver metal buttons also I need to figure out how to make a bracelet out of these
