Vintage button bowl

Image
It always makes me happy to see a bowl full of buttons at an antique store! This one had a metal garden scoop for button picking, and a plate below to collect your favorites. How convenient!

Painting on MOP buttons

Image
I  love my large vintage MOP buttons... I have been busy painting buttons which is always hard to find time for.  My eyes can't be tired, I have to be calm and relaxed,  and I need an uninterrupted stretch time... Hard to get all three at once...but I did get cottages and haunted houses done and am working on some birds and Santas... Usually if I am calm and relaxed, I'm asleep.  It's not something I can do while jumping up to take care of other chores.   I do have a tutorial on my blog on button painting... http://olderrose.blogspot.com

Playing with Buttons

Hi all I am downstairs in the studio looking for something and just had to stop and play with some of my vintage buttons which I still just love. Good Stuff

I am going through all my button drawers and found these vintage cloth buttons that came off of an old ladies coat I am thinking.I have had them for years. I hadn't thought much about them until one button collector I read  said she covets the old cloth buttons and always looks for them. And I found some in my collection. I always want the rhinestone or mother of pearl buttons  Sure wish I could attend the button show in Springfield Missouri this month

Cleaning out my stash I rediscovered this button barrel  I got a long time ago at a flea market. Its about 6" high and very sweet.  Here are some buttons I rediscovered when cleaning/organizing my stash. Love these plastic flower buttons. The kitty faces were on a baby sun suit that was soiled. Underwear buttons someone hand painted faces on. You can see more of my stash at Needle and Hook  on my July 22 post.
