These buttons excite me!

I just took these buttons out of their moulds, and I am very excited by the colour combinations....not sure what I did to get these effects, I'll have to reverse engineer them to try and repeat it.

I think these buttons need to be used in a group to look at their best, I will experiment with them on my customised clothing, or maybe make some wristycuffs specially for them....will show you all what I do with them at a later date...I just wanted to share my excitement with fellow buttoneers, normal people don't really understand

Button Bouquets

Springtime! Flowers! Lovely blossoms that will last! I have been making "button bouquets" using vintage buttons, text from an old dictionary, scrapbook paper, vintage salt & pepper shakers/creamers/sugar bowls and discarded/broken old pearl necklaces.

Petite Basket

I have participated in yet another swap- no surprise there. ;) For this swap we were to fill a petite basket with pretty things.
Do you think I included buttons?Absolutely...
Plenty of them:I hope my partner likes buttons as much as I do 'cause there was a whole lotta them in there. ;DRead more about it here on my blog.

In other news, there's still time to join the Pretty Pockets Swap. There's no time like now to blow the dust off of your sewing machine. ;) Are you scared of yours as much as I am?? Time to show it who's boss!

Fun at the Flea

I had a great time at the flea this morning. One of the sellers that I visit frequently had some buttons bagged up. She said she always sees buttons and passes them up but decided to try them this time, I think I made her happy she did. She asked me what I did with them and I told her I use them in my art but love to just have the white ones around me...in bowls, jars etc....
She just giggled at me and shook her head.....
Am I the only one who is this happy with buttons?
If you would like to see what else I got at the flea, hop on over to my blog! Happy Sunday! karen....

MoonMum

Have you seen MoonMum's clever use of buttons? I am a big fan and have been buying cards and wall art from MoonMum for a while now. I love these new little chick buttons and they inspired me to share. It's Mother's Day in Australia in a couple of weeks. Perfect. Lou.

Retro Kitchen Tag Swap (Blender)

I participated in yet another swap. Shocking, I know. ;)
For this swap we were to choose a kitchen appliance and make several tags to swap with other crafty ladies. I opted to make a blender. I used buttons as the, well..., buttons like on a real blender appliance.Visit my blog here for more details.

Also, I am hosting a Pretty Pockets Swap if anybody is interested. Visit my blog here for more details. :)

Button Brooches

here are some brooches I made with my own handmade buttons.

I zigzagged some left over bits of yarn on to thick black felt, then finished them off with my buttons...

Hello everyone, nice to meet you!

I'm Fran from the Highlands of Scotland, and I love buttons!

I have been making clothes for over 20 years and have collected buttons from all over the world to use on my work. I have spent many happy holidays hunting down button shops, or trawling street markets for buttons, old and new.

I used to make buttons out of polymer clay, but was never happy with the results, they always looked a bit wonky. I suppose thay had a certain charm, but it was not worth the blistered palms they caused.

I now make buttons out of resin, which I absolutely love doing and I am happy with the results.
The photos are of my handmade buttons.

This is my first foray into the blogosphere, couldn't really see the attraction, until I found "Button Floozies" and thought, "ah, now i see the point!"

I look forward to keeping up with my fellow button enthusiasts posts, and hope that you will be interested to see mine.

If you mention 'Button Floozies' in your comment, I'll include some antique/vintage buttons from my collection for you if you win!

Trials and Smiles at the Colorado State Button Show

I'm just back from a weekend at the Colorado State Button Show and have shared all about it on my blog, Indulge Your Shelf, along with many pretty photos!  Here's my new love:

She's a watch crystal button made by an artist, Theodore Gates, in 1967.  They tell me he used an antique Godey image of one of his fashionable ladies, then created the button from composition.  It's signed and dated by the artist.  Sigh.

Some new old buttons

Hi there~
Just stopping in to share a photo of some, new to me, vintage buttons (and a few buckles too) that I found yesterday at an antique store. It's actually the same place I got the last bunch of vintage buttons I bought : )
I will share them on my own blog tomorrow, so you're getting a first hand peek here ; )
It's a little hard to tell in the photo, but the bottom row, middle buttons are a coffee brown. And the ones next to them are a deep blue.
I love adding buttons, especially vintage, to my projects!
Have a great weekend~
Andrea

Button Hungry...

***

Hello to all button crazy...

I want to say hello and how glad I am that I can say it publicly - I collect buttons and really don't like them go!

like many of us - got hooked when fumbling in my grandmother's sewing box and stayed hooked since... I buy buttons to make things, but this do not happen too often as I don't like to see them go - but when I will do I am going to share it here :)

there is a little part of my collection of vintage, handmade and unusual buttons:

I can also be found here on my Blue Fish Handmade blog where I share all the other passions of my life

thanks for having me here!

Hello, my name is Andrea :)

Hi~
I am a new(ish) Button Floozie.
I've been following this blog here for awhile and when the opportunity opened up the other day to be a guest blogger~I jumped at the chance!

I have tagged along and watched my Mom dig through barrels of buttons, looking for just the right one, for years now. When I started sewing frequently a few years back~ I decided that a nice finishing touch to most of the things I make are:
buttons
I especially love vintage buttons. But, I will buy newer ones too if the color is just right ; )

Above there are some vintage buttons and other haberdashery I scored just a little while back.

Well I must go now, but I will try and come back as soon as I find more goodies to share!
If you'd like to take a peek at my blog- where I frequently photograph the buttons I find and use the link is right here: andreacreates.blogspot.com

Have a great weekend : )
