I've Always Been a Button Floozie

...and now it's official!

I'm Laurie, aka Indulge Your Shelf, and am thrilled to be among this group of people who love buttons as much as I do!

The story of my love of buttons began like so many of us -- by rifling through my mother's button box in and making piles of my favorites.  Fast forward to when I was a newlywed, and shopping in Alton, Illinois with my mother-in-law; at a junk shop, I found a cool old tin full of buttons for $5.  Inside were some of the most wonderful examples of buttons from the early 1900s.  I've been actively collecting ever since.

I love to craft with my buttons, and find just the perfect one to embellish one of my projects.

Very recently, I joined the Colorado State Button Club, and learned that my button collection is not as exquisite as I once thought.  I've seen some breathtaking buttons in my short time with the CSBC.  I now aspire to learn all I can about the buttons I have.

Still, it's not the quantity, or the quality even, of my buttons that gives me joy.  It's the details of each and every one -- and I love them all!

I especially love carved Mother of Pearl, all colors of glass, and Art Deco and chunky buttons in all those fun shapes.

Thanks for having me!  I look forward to getting to know you all!

i love your post on buttons...
and yes, it used to be one of my favourite passtimes too...rifling through my mothers jars full of different buttons...

I really do think they take us all on a nostalgic trip to our childhoods! and that's a good thing....

the only thing I don't like about buttons....is when people know just how to PUSH mine! lol
