Glitz and sparkle!

My favorite old buttons are the ones with rhinestones. I was excited to find this wonderful assortment recently. One little button can inspire a whole new creation, like the ones I used on this vintage looking Snowfolk I finished recently: My favorite color of button? PINK, of course! Nancy Lee

National Button Day!

Today, while reading my Paper Crafts magazine, I came across their calendar for November/December and on NOVEMBER 16th it's BUTTON DAY!!! Way cool. So I thought I'd look up National Button Day to see what I could find....guess what.....

I found this site...National Button Society! A way cool site. It has info for beginners and some other neat stuff. There are also links to other sites. If you didn't already know about it, go check it out!!!

Later friends...

Another great find!!!!!

O.K. - Last post I said buttons were fairly rare to find around here- but this weekend my daughter and I stumbled onto a Garage Sale and found a bag full of buttons.

Actually I found this little darning egg and asked the lady if there any other old sewing things, like buttons. She said "Yes- I just didn't think anyone would be interested- I have a bag of buttons , if you'd like to see them".

They are just wonderful- lots of variety!!

Each artist's interpretaton of Edith will be placed into a zine to submit to Somerset. Of course, I added a few buttons to the paper flowers!!! Buttons...lovely buttons...

Beutron Buttons (Australia)

Here are a small collection of children's
buttons on cards made by Beutron in the
1950's and 60's.

There were six different designs of cards
issued - owl, cowboy, teddy bear, girl,
baby and cat.

This is a closeup of an advertisement which
appeared in the Australian Home Journal
magazines during the 1950's.

The children were able to collect the cards and
paste them into a nursery story and painting book
available free from G. Herring in New South Wales.
(I would love to find one of these books!)

Beutron in Australia were a very large
company producing buttons for all the
family.

About me - I am thrilled to be able to join
the Button Floozies group. I am an Aussie and
I collect all things to do with sewing, knitting and
crochet, and because of the collections, we had
to find a bigger house - so we are currently
in moving house mode!
I have many old buttons both loose and on
cards, but I prefer the carded buttons because
I love the graphics designs on many of them.

SOME INTERESTING BUTTONS

Hi everyone,
I recently sorted out my buttons. I came across these and was wondering if anyone knows anything about them. The clear ones feel like glass, they are a heavy button. The ones on the paper are metal. You can see one of them has tarnished. The other one, shaped like a tear drop, is bone I think? Not sure about that. Just a wild guess.

Vintage buttons....

Movie star button cards..................
Old fashioned shirt button cards........................

These are the buttons on the original cards that I mentioned earlier. ( Yes- now I see that I should have put my glasses on to take the picture- the card is upside down in the last picture)

I search diligently for treasures like this and NEVER run across anything this wonderful!
My oldest daughter found these at a thrift shop and paid a couple of dollars for them !
I was so thrilled to get them- such unusual and unique cards as well as buttons.

Daughters are a wonderful gift- they know you better than you know yourself sometimes. She spotted these and knew I would love them.
I didn't grow up with sisters so I don't always "get" the girly stuff- but I am learning; thanks to my precious daughters!!!

THANKS BEKAH!!!!!!

Who knew there were so many Button Floozies???

I have visited this site for several weeks and still I can't believe there are other crazies like me! Crazy for buttons- that is!!!
I am a collector of so many things that I finally had to put a stop to it all- except the buttons!!! They are small, I reasoned and relatively sparse in these parts- so I feel safe leaving this little collection going!
This little batch is the last find at a thrift store- and I was so pleased with myself! But just a few days ago my daughter brought me a whole bag of vintage buttons-STILL ON THE CARDS!!!!
I will get a picture of those soon to share with you all.
I'm looking forward to getting to know you all a bit!
